Wellsprings of Life: Quaker Wisdom in Chant
An inspiring collection of 19 chants based in the words of Quaker writers and leaders, selected, sung and composed by Paulette Meier. The words reflect the contemplative wisdom of Quaker spirituality, which is at the root of Quaker practice of peace, integrity, equality, simplicity, and care of the earth. Unlike Paulette's first Quaker album of all monophonic, "a cappella" chants, most of these chants are beautifully embellished with piano, bass and harmony vocals by Andrew Breitenberg and Nick Weiland. Flute, cello and native flute are also part of the mix. Well-known contemporary teacher of the Christian Contemplative and Wisdom traditions, Cynthia Bourgeault, had this to say:
